Desiree R. Ramirez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) with over 17 years of experience in mental health and substance use treatment. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University. As a Board-Approved Clinical Social Work Supervisor, Desiree provides expert guidance and oversight in clinical practice.

Her extensive professional background includes working with incarcerated individuals, where she developed and implemented substance abuse and mental health programming within correctional institutions and inpatient residential settings. Additionally, she has significant experience supporting children, adolescents, and families with severe emotional disorders in both residential treatment programs and community-based outpatient settings. At New Growth Counseling, LLC, Desiree offers individual, family, and group therapy.

Desiree is proficient in a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP), and Motivational Interviewing. She is dedicated to fostering a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients through her dynamic personality, optimism, and compassionate approach.

Her therapeutic philosophy is rooted in trauma-informed care, strengths-based interventions, and mindfulness practices. Desiree firmly believes that change is possible at any stage of life and actively collaborates with her clients to explore their deepest emotions, harness their inner strengths, and cultivate a balanced, fulfilling life.
