Yvonne Giordano, LCSW

Yvonne Giordano is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who brings more than 16 years of experience in outpatient and intensive outpatient mental health care to New Growth Counseling, LLC. She has spent nearly nine years providing specialized, trauma-informed care within the Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system, where she supported veterans facing addiction, trauma, PTSD, mental health concerns, and co-occurring disorders using evidence-based treatment approaches.

Yvonne earned her bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in Special Education and Rehabilitation from the University of Arizona, with an emphasis in Deaf Studies and Educational Interpreting. She holds a master’s degree in Social Work from Arizona State University.

Throughout her career, Yvonne has worked with children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of clinical needs. Her work is grounded in compassion, dedication, and a deep respect for each individual’s lived experience. She is passionate about empowering people to heal, grow, and regain a sense of control and purpose in their lives.

Yvonne is known for her calm, non-judgmental, and empathetic approach. She creates a safe, supportive therapeutic space where clients feel heard, validated, and encouraged as they move through healing and personal growth. She has extensive experience working with culturally and racially diverse individuals, veterans, first responders, unhoused populations, individuals living with chronic pain, and members of the Deaf community.

Her clinical approach integrates evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), CBT for Substance Use Disorders and Insomnia, Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness and meditation practices, Relapse Prevention, SMART Recovery, Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and grief and loss counseling. Yvonne also works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders, and sleep-related concerns.

Yvonne has extensive experience supporting individuals impacted by addiction, trauma, and PTSD related to combat, childhood experiences, sexual assault, domestic violence, family and relationship dynamics, emotional, physical, and psychological abuse, sex trafficking and exploitation, and other complex mental health challenges.

At the core of Yvonne’s work is a deep belief in each person’s inherent worth. She is committed to walking alongside clients as they build safety, strengthen connections, and move toward lives less defined by fear, insecurity, addiction, and overwhelming symptoms.
